Update

So, I thought I would update everyone with what's going on with us and our little guy. This last Wednesday, we had quite an eventful day/evening. While at work, I started having contractions and bleeding. I went to the hospital where I was promptly sent down to labor and delivery for ultrasounds and to be monitored for contractions. I dilated to a one and a half, which isn't necessarily good at this point. Baby boy is 25 weeks and DEFINITELY not ready to be born into this world. At one point during the night, my contractions were 3-5 minutes apart. My medication that was given to me to decrease contractions was given again a little early and the contractions slowed down.

Thursday morning, we talked to my doctor and he had scheduled me with a specialist in Salt Lake for two reasons. One being, my situation is clearly a little different (or a lot different) than most of the cases he has dealt with as an OB. Secondly, there is no NICU in Vernal or Roosevelt. If our baby came early, he would have to be life-flighted to Salt Lake. We went home, packed quickly, and made our way to Salt Lake.

Friday morning, I met with the specialist. She determined the bleeding was coming from my other uterus (stupid little turd). This information was a huge relief. She also explained why I was having preterm contractions. My uterus is thinking that it is growing too much, and starting to contract early, similar to what happens to a uterus that is carrying twins or triplets. I am scheduled for appointments every two weeks for the next while, and have to stay on my medication. I was very grateful to hear that I would not need to go on complete bedrest. The specialist explained why she didn't recommend it - increased chances of blood clots, muscle atrophy, mineral depletion in the bones, and the mental side effects that come with being cooped up. She instead told me that work was not an option, to take it easy, not to lift anything or stay on my feet for extended periods of time and in general to just listen to my body and lay down when I felt contractions coming on.

For the next two weeks I will be staying in Salt Lake with my in-laws so I can be close to the hospital in case anything happens. After my appointment, we'll re-evaluate to see if it makes more sense for me to stay out here longer or if I can go home and wait things out there.

It has been a crazy few days, but I feel confident that everything is going to be just fine. This little man is just chill-axing in the womb as though nothing is wrong. For now, I'm going to enjoy the fact that summer has come a little early to me :) We'll keep everyone posted.

Tell little man that his job right now is to continue to "chill-ax"!! And you, young lady, are to do the same!! Don't make me come out there and manage you!!

Love,
HM

Those two utes are nothing but trouble I tell you... you know the one is just jealous of the other.

Glad to hear all is well.

First of all, I laughed out loud when I read that you called your ute a turd. HAHAHA! Secondly, if you are in Salt Lake and doing nothing, can I come visit you?
