st. george!

Last weekend, Mike had a Pharmacy Convention in St. George. Let me back up twenty years or so. Mike's family has been going to Pharmacy Convention in St. George since they were kids - due to the fact that his dad is a pharmacist and his mom often helps in the pharmacy as a pharmacy tech. Now that everyone is grown up, many with kids, they still count this as a family vacation and even those that don't have to go to the convention, pack up their families and head down to soak in the sun and get away for a few days. It was a blast.

First of all, the weather was delicious. It was windy for a little bit, but there was a lot of sunshine and plenty of time to hang out by the pool. I got to sneek into the convention with Mike's mom's pass and listen to Tara Costa (Biggest Loser Finalist) give a class on healthy living. It was pretty cool beans. Then I got to walk around and get free stuff from the pharmacy tables. Mostly it was candy and pens, but I did score some allergy medicine, coldsore medicine, and skin cream. I also got to go to two nice dinners with Mike at the convention. I kind of like being married to a pharmacist.

The best part, spending time by the pool. I say by the pool because I did dip in every once in a while, but I was completely content lazily reading and sipping my ice cold water. I had made a deal with myself not to eat treats, and to only eat them once on this trip. Who in the world was I kidding!? I broke that deal miserably. But I was pretty happy about it while I ate my coldstone or cake or frozen yogurt or whatever treat there may have been on hand.

On the way back from St. George, we stopped at Cove Fort. It was a fort built by President Hinckley's grandfather back in the late 1800's. He was asked by Brigham Young to go and build it, and he did. It was a cool historic site and a great Sunday activity. The only sad part was putting back on a sweater as the temperature dropped at least 30 degrees from St. George to Beaver.

I loved this. My nephew was so tired, he crashed AS his mom was putting on his diaper after swimming.

Mike's brothers attempting to throw him into the pool. They succeeded.

Mike and I at Cove fort. Notice the grey skies and jackets. The warm part of our trip was over, but this was still fun.
