A little bit of a dilemma . . .

I'm pretty forgetful, I'll own that right now. I've forgotten appointments, classes - I've even forgotten to shut my car door as I ran off to get to class on time - you name it. But I have NEVER locked my keys in my car. Ever. When I had my Jeep it wouldn't have even mattered if I had locked my keys in my car because all I had to do was unzip my window. That's right, unzip my window. Fancy huh?

Well, last night I had the unfortunate experience of locking my keys in my car. Mike and I had gone to the Tower Hill Botanic Gardens in Boylston, and after walking around for about an hour I realized that my keys were "no longer" in my pockets. I was almost positive that they were at one point in my pockets. Panic set in as we retraced ALL of our steps, this time with our eyes focused on the ground in front of us rather than on the beautiful landscape around us. After about thirty minutes of searching and constant praying - no keys. I was then pretty sure that I had absentmindedly put my keys in my purse and then sat my purse behind the seat of my car. Maybe I was pretty positive about it because I wanted that to be where they were. We opted not to break a window but rather to call a locksmith. By this point the garden was closing and Craig (the manager) told us that he had to lock up and there wasn't really anything he could do. I about started crying. This was no good. Finally Craig came up with a compromise, he gave us his phone number and left half of the gate open for the locksmith to come up. We were to call him when we were done so he could come and lock up after us. Thank you Craig! We waited for almost an hour before our locksmith, Hassam, showed up. He kinda creeped me out at first, speeding up, getting out of his car with a cig hanging from his lips. But after watching this man sweat and toil to get into my car instead of being creeped out by him, I wanted to hug him! I seriously contemplated it, but thought it probably was a little inappropriate. As soon as that door was opened, I grabbed for my purse and miracle of miracles there were my keys. I've never been so relieved. After writing Hassam a check for $150 - ouch - we got in the car and drove off to McDonalds for dinner. What an adventure. I will NEVER do that again. Worst part was realizing after the fact that I had AAA which would have come and unlocked my car for free. Boo. Oh well, you live you learn. Mike was great and didn't stress even though he was freezing. He's pretty awesome.

So aside from that fiasco, I LOVED this place, honestly one of my favorite places in Massachusetts. I love nature; those who know me know that I would rather spend my free time outside walking through the woods than anywhere else. This place was amazing. There were all sorts of different gazebos scattered around, different statues and benches everywhere. We were practically the only ones there and it was drizzling for a bit. It was a wee bit romantic, I'll have to admit. I'm just glad that we realized the keys were missing after we had the opportunity to walk around and enjoy the place. Here are some pictures of said fantastic location:

There was this beautiful vegetable garden. On the side of the garden was this fascinating harp.

My favorite part of the garden was this "Rustic" gazebo.

This sign made me giggle just a little bit. I really hope I didn't offend the gods by climbing up in the trees!

This was the view from a little wooden bench we sat on up on the summit. So beautiful.

And this . . . is the lizard Mike found when we were looking for my keys on the second walk through the garden.

Haa haa!! I have to laugh because I have done that soooo many times. On the upside, you got to have an adventure. Those are always fun. Looks like an amazing place and you are so going to be struck by the gods for offending them.

I've done that about 3 times, once with it running, that is way embarrassing. The worst time was when I was teaching piano and my nephew got rude and sassy with me. I picked up my stuff and walked out of the house, he knew his Dad would find out about this one. I stormed out to the car to realize my keys and cell were locked in. I had to go back in and call Carl to come get me, my little tirade lost it's meaning big time. Glad Mike was calm under pressure, thats his fathers trait. But he gets his first aid skills from me.
