For the past few days, Sam has been developing a cough. I say developing because each day it has gotten just a wee bit worse. Wednesday night, it was so bad, it woke him up from his sleep. Thursday night, the same thing happened. I decided that maybe I should take him in on Friday and see what was going on. He hadn't been running a fever or acting sick at all - just coughing. In fact, he was eating fine, sleeping fine (for the most part), and laughing and playing just like always. But something kept nagging at me.
So I took him in on Friday and sure enough he was sick. Actually, he's quite sick! Double ear infections, pneumonia, the flu, AND RSV! My poor baby! I guess we caught all of them (minus the pneumonia) fairly early, hence the reason he wasn't acting sick. However, when he woke up this morning, he was in full blown "I feel cruddy" behavior. Poor kid doesn't want to eat, doesn't want to be put down, keeps grabbing at his ears, and will start crying out of the blue. Unfortunatley, the only thing we can really do is give him antibiotics for his ears - everything else is viral so we just have to let them run their course. Ironically, Mike and I were just talking a few nights ago about how lucky we were that Sam hasn't had to be on antibiotics by this age. Sam hasn't really been sick, aside from a little cold. But apparantly, our little guy wants to be just like his old man. When Mike was little, he had ear infections all the time and no one ever knew because he wouldn't act sick - no fever, nothing. I'm afraid our little guy might have the same disposition. He's tough like his dad.
I guess this is one of my first real tests as a mother. So far I feel like I've done everything I can, and all there is left to do is just love on my baby until he starts feeling better.

I hate when your baby is sick and you can't do anything about it. It is the worst feeling in the world. Though when they will let you cuddle with them is the best feeling in the world. We hope he gets better soon!
Poor guy! I hope he feels better soon! He sounds just like Ammon and Caleb. It's so frustrating when you have no idea they're that sick and you feel awful when you take them in! Give him some extra loves for us :)
