Sambo at 6 months

Tomorrow, Sam will be 6 months old.  6 months!  Holy smokes time flies so fast.  I feel like these past few weeks he has just taken off, and I'm loving watching how he's growing and developing.  I seriously have so much fun hanging out with him all day, and will often recount to Mike all the reasons why I love Sam.  I'm sure Mike just LOVES this (just a little hint of sarcasm there).

So how is Sam doing these days?
  • He's up to a whopping 17.5 lbs.
  • He's eating solids.  He's been introduced to peas, green beans, sweet potatoes, and carrots.  On a side note, he's apparantley allergic to carrots.  Both times we fed it to him, he puked it up three hours later (beautiful orange staining puke - lovely), the second time we fed it to him - thinking the puking from the first time had more to do with his being sick than the carrots - I noticed a rash forming around his mouth, and got to change a nasty diarrhea diaper. Needless to say, we will NOT be giving the munchkin carrots for a little while.
  • He can roll over, he just doesn't seem to want to!  He's rolled over maybe 6 times, but nothing consistent.  Oh well.
  • He has an all time record of 15 seconds of sitting up on his own before he topples over.  If he's focused, then he tends to stay put longer.
  • He's learned to blow raspberries.  It's hillarious, and I'll laugh my face off everytime he does it.  In fact he's doing it right now!
  • He has learned how to grab on to things and bring them to his mouth.  I've heard this is how babies learn different textures and explore their worlds.  I think it's awesome.  The other day I was eating soup and holding him on my lap - I know, it's a daring move.  Well, he took the spoon right out of my hand and started licking it.  I tried to get it back, but he had a death grip on it and I had to wrestle it out of his hands.
  • He is such a smiley, happy baby!  He wakes up talking to himself, and laughing, he laughs all throughout the day.  He is such a joy.
  • He goes to bed without any fuss.  At first we held him until he fell asleep, but we've been moving away from that and started putting him down when we knew he was tired, but still awake.  At first he would cry for quite a while and then eventually fall asleep.  Now he just sticks his fingers in his mouth, and soothes himself to sleep.  No crying.  I love it.
  • He likes to stand.  If you are holding him he will lock his legs and push down on you until he's standing.  He's so strong.
  • He's getting more hair, and yes, it still has a red tint to it.  His eyes are looking bluer and bluer each day.  What a handsome little guy.
  • He can entertain himself for longer stretches of time, and this has been such a sanity saver for me. He'll sit in his exer-saucer for like 30 minutes and just play.
  • We are seeing more and more of his little personality and are starting to see some of our own traits manifest in him.  He's a talker - just like his mama.  He doesn't really like to snuggle - just like his daddy ;-)
We love this little man so much, and feel so incredibly blessed that we get to keep him forever.

SO CUTE! I really miss that age. I guess I won't miss it for long. :) Have fun with him as much as you can. Soon he'll be running around your house and you'll really wish he was six months old again.
