Today was definitely one of those near perfect days. Everything about it seemed to feel right. Church was wonderful - all of it. The lesson in Relief Society was so powerful and I felt like it gave so much hope to everyone in the room. The lesson centered on the conference talk by Elder Cook: Live by Faith, Not Fear. It was so interesting to listen to the other sisters in the room and realize that everyone faces fear. Our fears differ, but that anxiety and panic and doubt is something that everyone experiences. I loved the comment that someone made about how the Lord helps us through those times - Sometimes he stills the waves, and sometimes he still our hearts while we are still in the storm. I am so grateful for this perspective and also for the knowledge that trials have their end. It reminds me of something my dad has told me on more than one occasion. He often points out to me that the winds in a hurricane are often the strongest and most destructive near the edge of the storm. So when I feel like I just can't take anymore, I can find peace and hope in the fact that I will soon be over the worst and into the sunlight again.
After church, I got to come home and take a nap. Beautiful. And then I went to choir practice and a baptism for a friend. My friend has been investigating the church for some time now, and it was so great to be there to support him as he takes this step to come closer to our Savior. It was awesome to see his family there to support him. Now here it is 9 o'clock, and I actually might be able to get in bed by my goal time of 10:30. Good day, definitely a good day.
