St. George 2011

Last weekend we went to St. George for Pharmacy Convention.  I love that we get to go every year, and I know it will make for some good memories as Sam gets older and more kids add to the mix.  This year, the weather was amazing.  Thursday, Friday, and Saturday we were in the 80's.  Sunday, the day we left, it was cloudy and promised rain.  We couldn't have asked for better weather!  I was able to do my 10 mile run while there, and it was one of the most amazing runs I have ever done.  I ran the last 10 miles of the St. George marathon route.  I started right before 7 a.m., so I was able to watch the sunrise as I ran down the canyon.  Then I got to run past the St. George temple (just to make sure I had run far enough).  It was amazing.  I ran almost 11 miles when I mapped it later, but no matter.  I was able to run 10 1/2  minute miles, which is probably my best time in training so far.  I am so excited for the Salt Lake Half Marathon in two weeks!  I definitely have the running bug, and I'm looking forward to other races once this one is over.

While we were in St. George, Sam had his first swimming experience, and I think he liked it.  Mostly I think he liked trying to eat the pool toy.  I had to buy him a swimsuit, and was surprised that a size 12 month swimsuit was only a little too big for him.  He's such a chub these days.  He also decided on this trip that he no longer wants to nurse 4 times a day, but only 3.  Of course he would do that while we were on vacation.  I was stressed the first day but I quickly adjusted to the idea.  Luckily, I brought a pump with me so I wasn't uncomfortable as my body adjusted to the change.

Here are some pictures of Sam swimming and hanging out with his cousin Logan.  We had so much fun!

On Sunday, Sam had a little bit of a rough day.  First, he fell off the bed at the hotel - I knew this would happen sooner than later as he rolls everywhere these days.  Usually, we don't put him on the couch or bed unless we are right there with him.  Mike had his back turned for, no kidding, 2 seconds and we heard a *thud*.  Poor little guy.  He landed on his tummy, but he hit his head on the right side above his eye and it was a little red.  Later that day, his cousin accidentally stepped on his face, the same side Sam hit earlier in the day. I thought Sam would pass out from not breathing, he was so upset!  Then later that night he stuck a toy in his mouth. A small toy.  Luckily, Grandma Sorenson saw it and was able to get it out before Sam tried to swallow it.  On the drive home, I just thought to myself, "And so it begins!"  Sam is definitely going to be getting into things in the next little while here and we just have to prepare ourselves for it I guess.  It's been really nice not having to baby proof the house as of yet.  But I think those days are soon over.

So glad that you love going to St. George... Isn't the run and beauty there amazing. Have you thought about doing the St. G marathon? I am considering and it would be awesome if you did it as well. Sam is getting so cute and so big!
