Oh the weather outside is frightful

Today is a snow day - that's a good thing and a bad thing. A good thing because who doesn't want to sleep in and wake up to a winter wonderland of snow. A bad thing because this day doesn't come for free. It will force us to have our last day of school on a Monday rather than a Friday. Right now, I'm ok with that. As I sit here planning for the next month or two (school planning) - I'm feeling very listy.

*Definition of "Listy": when one feels the need to make lists.

I already did my to do list for the day, I'm sure you don't want to see that. Instead, I will grace you all with my list of reasons why snowdays aren't all that bad. Ready? Ok.

These are in no particular order of importance or greatness.

Snow days are kind of cool because....
1. you can wake up whenever your little heart desires.
2. the rest of the city is also on a snow day; there is no real urgency to get ready for the day. i might just be in my jammies ALL day long, and that's ok.
3. french toast and bacon for breakfast tastes especially delicious when eaten in a quiet kitchen with the snow falling outside.
4. you get to hang out with roommates that have a different schedule during the day than you usually do. i don't know the last time i got to hang out with Bree during the week. it's nice.
5. you can decide to be adventurous and frolick in the snow OR not.
6. you can order food for dinner and sit in your cozy house while you try not to think about the fact that the delivery boy is risking his life to get you your yummy nourishment.
7. you can drink as many cups of hot cocoa or hot tea as you so desire and no one will judge.
8. you can build a fire and get nice and toasty.
9. you can get caught up on all those little things that you keep putting off - like paying bills, writing letters, etc, etc, etc.
10. you feel like someone gave you an extra day with absolutley no expectations, and you can actually sit and relax for a while. maybe that's the best reason.

I don't think it ever occurred to me as a child that my teachers enjoyed spontaneous school holidays at all.

I love snow days! Not so much now that all it means is that my kids are all stuck at home with me :) but there was nothing better than waking up and finding out you didn't have to go to school! Lucky you...enjoy your day!

Hey! I didn't know you are getting married! When?! Congratulations, he looks like such a cute boy. Please send me an announcement!
I feel a little weird posting my address online, so email me= nicriding@yahoo.com and I will send it to you.
It is good to see you doing so well; I don't think I have seen you for a REALLY long time.
And, by the way, I am a little jealous that you live in Boston. I love that city.
