Contamination
Over the past three days, students have been dropping over sick like flies. Today alone, there were 53 students out sick and something like 15 teachers. This is getting ridiculous. They say it's this crazy, nasty, contagious flu bug that is going around. I think it might have something to do with the Patriots loss on Sunday - these people are a little too attached to their sports teams (I'm still a little bitter about the Red Sox, although I did promise to give them a chance during this upcoming season). Maybe everyone is just heartsick over the loss?? Well when I got into school today, instead of doing the standardized testing we were supposed to be doing all week, I got a message telling me to find something else to do with my students. The administration felt that the scores would not be completely accurate with the students feeling ill and what not. Fair enough, fair enough - but then what am I supposed to do for the rest of the week? It's already Wednesday, I can't start vocabulary or any other of our normal weekly routines because there just isn't time. On top of that, we found out today that school will be closed on Friday so they can "De-Bug" the building. Basically they are spraying that puppy down to kill any and all of these germs that are getting everyone so sick. I seriously about threw up when I thought of all the nastiness that was clinging to the walls of my class room. Disgusting. So this cuts my options down even more. What in the world am I supposed to do with my students for two days?! Still thinking on this one, hoping that something comes to me before tomorrow morning. All disgusting contaminated nastiness aside, I'm kind of looking forward to Friday off and yet another fabulous weekend.
