So I wondered if I should blog about this because it is such a strange thing, but after last night, I knew I had to. Last week I went in for a doctors visit and after a check up and a subsequent ultrasound - it was discovered that I have a little bit of an abnormality in this little body of mine. Turns out I have two uteruses. Now I know this might be an awkward thing to blog about, and I fully understand that. But really, it's just fascinating. After this was discovered, I was sent to a specialist for even more tests and a consult. During the testing, they found that did indeed have two uteruses (uterus didelphys) and only one kidney. That's right folks - two uteruses, one kidney. Now I don't know about you, but I'm feeling a little backwards here.
I met with a specialist (whose name happens to be Andrea Zuckerman - you know like the 90210 gal?) and got some questions answered. My roommate and good friend, Bree came with me for some moral support. I asked the Dr. if this abnormality would impact the way I live my life and she said that it wouldn't except for the fact that I would need to carry around a card with me that explained the fact that I only have one kidney. That way, if I'm in an accident I'll be taken care of right.
Last night when I got home, I wasn't even thinking about what the Dr. said about the kidney card - but Bree hadn't forgotten. She came into my room and presented me with this....
I will proudly take this little gem with me wherever I go. Thanks Bree! :)

Way to go, Bree! I love it:) Trish, this has been a strange week with all the new discoveries, but I have to say you have weathered this freak storm with class and with such a positive attitude. You are my hero.
I love the card! I hope your little Kidney doesn't get too lonely in there. I can't help but wonder what special attention you would need if you had an accident. How would they treat a uni-kidney person vs. a bi-kidney person.
So does that mean if you got pregnant you could still get pregnant? Like have one baby that is six months along and one that is three months along? Cool.
hahaha...hilarious. I don't know Bree, but I think we could be friends. That's awesome.
I must agree that you have handled this very well for the shock and unknown that it presented to you!!! I still love ya even if ya got different parts than most :)
For medical information: kidneys are one of two major pathways that the body eliminates medications. If they don't know you only have one kidney they could give you too much of a medication and that could cause your lone kidney to malfunction and fail which would not be a good situation. So it is a very good idea to carry this card around with you!
Miss you! Love you! Can't wait to get married to you!
PS-Why does your blog always have wierd verification words? My verification word today was "seman" hahaha
Mike, I love you! Thank you for the incredible support you are to our sweet daughter.
Well, well, well...isn't it going to be nice to have Mr. Doctor Man as a husband...Very informative Mike! Trish, I love that you have taken such a thing as this and made it your own funny quirk. Only you would be this resilient. I love you and can't wait to see you in...a week?!?! Craziness. I think every one of my sibs will be there (sans children), by the way. Be prepared for the Bob Worsley Clan descending on your wedding.
Kendra! I can't wait to see the Bob Worsley clan. So many of my favorite memories are with your family. I miss you guys. See you so soon!
Trisha, just think. You could carry a set of twins born like 5 months apart and then get into the Guinness book of WORLD RECORDS!!
And then I'd say I knew you when...
